      A STATEMENT FROM BRIAN : Apr 19th, 2016

ACDC Metlife-9812As many AC/DC fans know, the remaining shows for the 2016 AC/DC Rock or Bust World Tour, including 10 postponed U.S. shows, are being rescheduled with a guest singer. I want personally to explain the reason because I don’t believe the earlier press releases sufficiently set out what I wanted to say to our fans or the way in which I thought it should be presented.
On March 7th, after a series of examinations by leading physicians in the field of hearing loss, I was advised that if I continue to perform at large venues, I risked total deafness. While I was horrified at the reality of the news that day, I had for a time become aware that my partial hearing loss was beginning to interfere with my performance on stage. I was having difficulty hearing the guitars on stage and because I was not able to hear the other musicians clearly, I feared the quality of my performance could be compromised. In all honesty this was something I could not in good conscience allow. Our fans deserve my performance to be at the highest level, and if for any reason I can’t deliver that level of performance I will not disappoint our fans or embarrass the other members of AC/DC. I am not a quitter and I like to finish what I start, nevertheless, the doctors made it clear to me and my bandmates that I had no choice but to stop performing on stage for the remaining shows and possibly beyond. That was the darkest day of my professional life.
Since that day, I have had several consultations with my doctors and it appears that, for the near future, I will be unable to perform on stage at arena and stadium size venues where the sound levels are beyond my current tolerance, without the risk of substantial hearing loss and possibly total deafness. Until that time, I tried as best as I could to continue despite the pain and hearing loss but it all became too much to bear and too much to risk.
I am personally crushed by this development more than anyone could ever imagine. The emotional experience I feel now is worse than anything I have ever in my life felt before. Being part of AC/DC, making records and performing for the millions of devoted fans this past 36 years has been my life’s work. I cannot imagine going forward without being part of that, but for now I have no choice. The one thing for certain is that I will always be with AC/DC at every show in spirit, if not in person.
Most importantly, I feel terrible having to disappoint the fans who bought tickets for the canceled shows and who have steadfastly supported me and AC/DC these many years. Words cannot express my deep gratitude and heartfelt thanks not just for the recent outpouring to me personally of kind words and good wishes, but also for the years of loyal support of AC/DC. My thanks also go to Angus and Cliff for their support.
Finally, I wish to assure our fans that I am not retiring. My doctors have told me that I can continue to record in studios and I intend to do that. For the moment, my entire focus is to continue medical treatment to improve my hearing. I am hoping that in time my hearing will improve and allow me to return to live concert performances. While the outcome is uncertain, my attitude is optimistic. Only time will tell.
Once again, my sincere best wishes and thanks to everyone for their support and understanding.
      Love,
      Brian

Ron White in the UK! : Mar 22nd, 2016

One of Brian’s best friends is the hugely successful and extremely funny American comedian, Ron White. He has been persuaded to come over here to our humble island, to do a London show at the Leicester Square Theater on Aug 30th and three nights at the close of the Edinburgh Festival at the Assembly Rooms on Aug 26, 27, 28. If you like a drink, a smoke and / or a laugh, do come along – Ron is the very best.

Brian to stop touring immediately : Mar 8th, 2016

From AC/DC website and  The Guardian online

Brian Johnson has been advised by doctors to stop touring immediately, or face “total hearing loss”, according to a statement on the band’s website.

The band – due to perform in the UK and Europe this summer – have postponed the remaining 10 dates of their US tour, though the band say they “will be made up later in the year, likely with a guest vocalist”. What happens after that is unsure, though tour dates through to June 12 are still listed on their website.

Johnson has been AC/DC’s singer since 1980, when he joined following the death of Bon Scott. His first record with the group, Back in Black, became the second best-selling album of all time, behind Michael Jackson’s Thriller. He became a firm favourite with fans for his apparently boundless goodwill, and for a voice that seemed as though it could probably pierce armour.

      JAGUAR F-TYPE PROJECT 7 – BRIAN’S CHOICE : Feb 25th, 2016

Brian Johnson 5 Brian Johnson 1The following is an interview done by Jaguar’s Howard Walker with Brian about his new car!

Rock legend and AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson explains why he’s added a new Jaguar F-TYPE Project 7 – Jaguar’s limited production all-aluminum, fully road-legal two-seater roadster – to his car collection.

How are you enjoying your F-TYPE Project 7 so far?

I love it. It’s a proper supercar and boy oh boy does it have some grunt to it. While it’s blisteringly fast, I feel so safe in it. I love the steering, the handling, and those carbon ceramic brakes are amazing. The discs are as big as the wheels on my racing Mini. Just listen to that noise from the exhaust, who needs a stereo when you have a soundtrack like this?

Have you taken it out on the track yet?

Not this car. Last year I did an episode of my TV show Cars That Rock sitting in the passenger seat of a Project 7 while it was being hammered around Jag’s Gaydon test track in the UK by chief engineer, Mike Cross. It was un-believable. He was throwing it sideways to show the control, hammering down the straights at 125mph. It just felt like a rocket.

What was it about the F-TYPE Project 7 that appealed to you?

I think it’s because it pays homage to one of my favorite Jags of all time, the Le Mans-winning D-type. You see the D in that lovely fairing behind the driver’s seat. It’s also a pretty rare car; they’ve only built 250, with just 50 of those coming to the States. I literally had to beg them to buy one. Of course they asked me what color I wanted. I told them: Is there any other color than British Racing Green?

Is this the first Jaguar you’ve owned?

Not at all. My first was an old Mk II saloon I bought in 1971. It was silver-blue with a red interior and wire wheels. I was 24 at the time and paid £200 for it – that’s about $350. It was fantastic. The band I was in at the time wasn’t cutting the custard, so I had to sell it. It broke my heart. Then, I had an old XJ, which was the car I drove in down to London for my audition with AC/DC in 1980. That was a lovely motor. When we moved to Florida, I got myself a 1973 E-type V12 convertible. It was silver with red interior and wide wheels. For years, my brother-in-law, who’s a doctor in Norway, kept pestering me to sell it to him. Ten years ago I finally let him have it. He still owns it and loves it.

Will the F-TYPE Project 7 stay in the garage as an investment, or will you drive it?

The Jag is too much fun not to drive. In fact, when I’m at home in Florida, I drive all my cars at least twice a week. These are living things that need to be exercised. My favorite drive with the Project 7 is my local State Road 64 from Bradenton over towards Sebring. It’s full of bends, elevation changes and lovely long straights. You can really open it up.

Brian and AC/DC have just kicked off the U.S. leg of their 2016 ‘Rock or Bust’ tour that ends April 4 at New York’s Madison Square Garden.

A message from Brenda and Brian Johnson : Feb 21st, 2016

One of our dearest friends and a soul brother to my husband passed on yesterday..
Brendan Healy brought so much joy ,laughter and music to our lives and his passing has left a huge void. It’s so very sad that his brilliant wit,his comic genius and generous heart are gone….You realize how fleeting time is when you lose someone so close to you..But..we had so much more to share…..I have so many years of memories of Brian and Brendan beneath the stairs in our home composing music on the piano together into the wee hours of the morning….He brought magic to our lives with his engaging energy and humor.  The two boys played off each other with stories of life that would bring you to tears with laughter.
I was so lucky to have seen him last week in his home with Steph……Brian was on tour in America and couldn’t get away…It was a special hour of sharing life when you realize the time is running out. We will miss you dear friend and brother…but fear not because your  “Soul brother”…my Brian ,will continue to tell your stories and sing your songs forever
And you will live in our hearts till we meet again. RIP Brendan Healy
