Brian went to Namur Belgium last week to unveil a statue of himself that had been erected in the town where he first played with AC/DC (and on a brand new plaza that has been named after AC/DC) – the statue was paid for by a fantastic fan run crowd-funding campaign – huge thanks to everyone who contributed
The day at the Sebring Historic Sportswear Racing event started slowly for Brian as he had missed qualifying on Wednesday due to a whole morning of radio interviews for his great now book – see banner below
The first race at 8am was Group 3/3 and he had to start at the back of the 35 car pack in his Chevron B8 (see photo), but still managed to finish 9th
At the 1.30 HSR Group 2/3 he got to start at 9th (due to his finishing position in the morning) and when he crossed the finish line he was 5th
Finally, distracted by his manager wanting a business meeting, he had to rush into the 3pm hour long Enduro at the last minute – nevertheless, he finished 2nd! So all in all, a great day for Brian
From everyone here at BrianJohnsonRacing.com, our sincere condolences to the family and friends of John Miles who sadly died on Sunday December 5th. 2021
John grew up in Hebburn near Newcastle and while a pupil at Jarrow Grammar School, Miles was a member of a local band called The Influence, which also included Paul Thompson, later drummer with Roxy Music; and Vic Malcolm, later lead guitarist with Geordie. It was through these two friends of Brian that the two singers first met. They remained friends ever since.
Brian says – “Our thoughts are with his wife Eileen, John jr and Tanya the children, it must be a very sad time for them, as it is for us, and all of Newcastle. What a great talent he was. I will miss you John, always”.
Music was my first love
And it will be my last
John Miles RIP

This week’s guest fronts the world’s biggest rock band – AC/DC’s lead singer Brian Johnson is also an authority on cars, and it’s a real privilege that he joins me on the Ultimate Road Trip podcast.
Along with the the usual 5 URT questions, we talked about his general love of cars and motor racing and how all things automotive have played an important part in his life.
There are the TV shows which he’s presented over the years, covering both music and cars, and then of course we talked AC/DC, and how the band approached the release of their 17th studio album ‘Power Up’, despite the pandemic.
